The Project | In preparation for the 2008 Budget Speech, the Department appointed Crispian Olver to lead a team of consultants in reviewing fiscal mechanisms and initiatives that can contribute to environmental reform, and preparing policy proposals for inclusion in the 2008 budget speech. The full range of potential mechanisms and initiatives that can contribute to the environment was critically reviewed, and specific proposals for economic incentives and tax policy reforms put forward. The initiative resulted in a number of the proposed measures being included in the 2008 budget speech, and implemented by National Treasury.
